The Samaria Gorge is the longest in Europe, with a total length of 18km. The width of the gorge is 150 metres at its widest to 3 metres at its narrowest. ... Deserted village
Halfway through the gorge, lies the deserted village of Samaria, when the Gorge became a park. Many of the buildings have now been restored although still uninhabited. However this is a wonderful, shady place for a rest during the walk.
