If travelling from different areas in Greece, from many of the other islands, Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines have domestic flights to and from Crete, all via Athens.
Ferries
There is a ferry service to and from Piraeus to Heraklion, Chania, Rethymnon, Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. There are also ferries to from Crete to Santorini and various other islands. Travelling by ferry is more affordable than travelling by plane and the ships are modern, safe and fast. They usually depart late at night and arrive early in the morning of the next day, therefore enabling a two-centre island holiday.
