It also has an endless sandy beach

As the end of Spring, the shepherds of the lands of Rethymnon celebrate with the sheering of their animals, accompanied by a lavish feast, some even bringing their sheep down for blessing at the church.
Fruit gathering from orchards and vineyards is also celebrated, in the autumn, with the making of 'raki', the local Cretan drink.
