Malia

Once a small coastal village with an interesting Minoan archaeological site, it now has an overwhelming collection of tourist shops, supermarkets, fast food restaurants.The region of Malia is very rich due to its fertile land, with its springs of water of excellent quality and of course it's wonderful sandy beach.

There is a wide range of tourist and other facilities provided in Malia. Many luxurious hotels and apartments. A variety of shops and many tavernas, restaurants and bars.

Although a famous holiday resort, and most of the locals are involved with tourism, there is still much agricultural and mineral production, such a bottled water and bananas.

Malia has a fantastic beach of fine sand and one of the longest stretches in Crete. The beach is fairly organised and provides all the amenities that you may want. During the high season, this wonderful beach can get fairly crowded, however there are many smaller beaches in coves around Malia, for those who prefer to be a little more secluded.
