Hersonisos

The name of the ancient city that was located in the place where the harbour of Hersonissos is today, has not changed.
The old village of Hersonissos was built in fear of the pirates who forced the villagers to move inland. There are now two traditional small villages, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari overlooking this busy resort.
There are also small pretty creeks around the resort with white sand and turquoise water with an array of water-sports to hand.

The harbour of Hersonisos is famous for its night life and is mostly preferred by younger tourists who want to have fun at the beach and enjoy the nightlife, while the neighbouring villages offer quiet and peaceful environment for family vacation.

Hersonissos has an impressive variety of goods to offer, from top brand names and unique jewellery to fine antiques and high quality leather goods. Souvenirs, local wine, handicrafts, folk art and a variety of local products, such as olive oil, soap are also on offer.

Hersonisos offers a wide selection of restaurants, from the traditional tavernas offering the local specialities such as Moussaka, stuffed tomatoes and Stifado, to Chinese, French, Italian, African and a wide range of fast food restaurants. Usually the ones with sea view are more expensive although more romantic.
